Mr. Thara has wide-ranging bankruptcy, litigation, and white-collar experience. He has litigated and arbitrated disputes across industries, including the financial services, energy, and telecommunications sectors. Additionally, Mr. Thara has led teams defending financial institutions, corporate clients, and senior executives in regulatory and internal investigations. At the Togut firm, his practice primarily concerns litigation for debtors, trustees, and creditors in Chapter 11 and 7 cases.

Prior to joining the Togut firm, Mr. Thara was an associate in the litigation groups of Boies, Schiller & Flexner and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy. His past experience includes representing:

• A spectrum company in Chapter 11 plan confirmation hearings and depositions;

• A shareholder in lawsuits against the United States and FRBNY, based on their response to an insurance company's collapse during the financial crisis;

• A large commercial bank in a SEC investigation into a significant business unit;

• A sports network in arbitration to determine the value of an NBA franchise's media rights; and

• An investment firm in a successful Delaware trial against a hedge fund manager refusing to return capital.

Mr. Thara received his J.D. from Yale Law School and his A.B. from the University of Chicago. He is a former clerk to the Honorable James F. Holderman (Ret.) on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
