Togut Segal & Segal LLP is pleased to announce that it will promote three attorneys, starting January 1, 2024.
Brian F. Shaughnessy, currently Senior Counsel at the Togut Firm, will become Partner. Brian joined the Firm in 2020, and has since provided immense value and leadership to the Firm’s bankruptcy litigation practice. Before joining the Togut Firm, Brian held positions at some of the country’s most elite litigation firms, including Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, Ropes & Gray LLP, and Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Brian earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from Harvard University.
Jared C. Borriello, currently an Associate at the Togut Firm, will become Counsel. Jared joined the Firm in 2019 and represents debtors, secured lenders, ad hoc lender groups, unsecured creditors, and other parties in interest in chapter 11 cases as well as a wide range of insolvency-related matters throughout the country. Leveraging his experience as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner, Jared also counsels clients on complex asset valuations, due diligence, and tax issues. Prior to joining the Firm, Jared was a member of Pryor Cashman LLP’s Bankruptcy, Reorganization & Creditors’ Rights Group. Jared earned his J.D. from University of Michigan Law School and both a B.B.A. and MAcc from University of Michigan.
John N. McClain, III, currently an Associate at the Togut Firm, will become Counsel. John joined the Firm in 2022 and provides exceptional representation to debtors, creditors, and other parties in interest, primarily in connection with litigation and other contested matters. Previously, John served as a judicial law clerk for both Chief Judge Richard Myers of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina and Judge Allegra Collins of the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and was a litigation associate at Ropes & Gray LLP. John earned his J.D. from University of North Carolina School of Law and a B.A. from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
